The Holiday Rush

Like many of you, I’ve spent the last few days rushing around to finish up last minute preparations for the holidays. I will likely continue all this busy work straight up until Christmas morning, which will usher in another few days of chaos while we make the rounds visiting family and friends.

snow man, holiday, merry christmas

After a few days to breathe, New Year’s will be upon us with all it’s bright and shiny promises of improvement. We’ll stay out too late and imbibe too much and start the next phase with a bad hangover and no motivation to make those changes until “tomorrow”.   Some of us will make good on that promise, some of us won’t, but all of us will continue to live our lives and inevitably wind up right back in the holiday season for another helping of stress with a generous side of merriment.

It’s a strange, thing really. All this stress we put upon ourselves. Sometimes I think we think so hard about all the things we feel are necessary to make memories that we rob ourselves of the joy those things are supposed to bring.

This year, things have been a little tighter than normal, but I have chosen not to let it stress me out. Instead, I’m focused on enjoying the time with my loved ones and creating beautiful mental snapshots with my daughter and my husband.

christmas cookies, holiday,

If only our cookies had turned out this well!

Today was spent baking cookies for Santa and a few goodies for gift baskets. Later I’ll be wrapping the last of the gifts, as we will do our Christmas a day early to accommodate all the family functions taking place on the actual holiday. I must say that despite a few mishaps, it has been a lot of fun. This low-key approach has been an amazing change, and it’s one I plan on keeping!

This time of year always feels like a strange mix of being too busy and not having enough to do. Finishing up all the tasks left undone to make room for new goals and evaluating the progress of the year is both taxing and refreshing. That is a process that will get a whole post of it’s own here soon.

For now, I just wanted to wish love, light, and laughter on all of you as you celebrate the holidays.

I can’t wait to come back with some new material for you all!

Lo-Fidelity Is Now Available! **Book Release**

Two rock gods, one mixed up heart. What’s a girl to do?

When we last saw Maggie Hawke, she was preparing to join her husband on the road as his band, Fallen Angels, embarked on their biggest tour to date. Recovering from the shock of his affair, and dealing with the aftermath of her own wrongdoings, putting distance between themselves and the heartbreak seems like a welcome solution.

Lo-Fidelity, the second book in my “Instruments Of Life” series, picks up right where we left off. While on the road with Fallen Angels, Maggie finds herself examining her life once more as she rediscovers some old passions and faces some harsh realities. Can they learn to put the past behind them, or will this tour be their final bow?

I am beyond proud of this installment. Watching these characters grow has been an amazing experience.

Lo-Fidelity is available as an eBook through Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Apple iBooks. You can also get it as a paperback through Createspace and Amazon.

If you are new to this series, you can purchase the first novel, “Broken Strings“, as an eBook at any of the above retailers through this universal link, or as a paperback on Amazon. You can find this book in my “Books” tab here as well.

Of course, if you want to dive straight into the second book, there’s nothing stopping you! I tried to incorporate enough of the main points of the first book to make it easy to join at any part of the journey, however if you want a richer experience I would definitely recommend giving the first one a go!

I’d like to extend a HUGE thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey, it truly means the world to me. Whether you’re a friend, family member, or a reader I’ve never met, knowing that there are others who love these characters as much as I do is what keeps me going when it gets tough. Being able to accomplish my dream of being an author is nothing short of amazing and it’s all thanks to you!

Lo-Fidelity Release Date & Cover Reveal!

We have a release date, folks!!

Now that things are finally falling in place, I can confidently say that the second book in my “Instruments of Life” series will be available for sale on December 13, 2016.

I am really proud of the way this story has come together, and in many ways I prefer it to the first book. I had so much fun with this one from the first draft clear up to the final revisions and I cannot wait to start fleshing out the third installment. I could seriously spend every second of my waking hours bringing my vision to life, toying with every possible scenario and variation of wording. Once the ball starts rolling, I just don’t want to stop!

The same cannot be said about cover design, however.

There is a reason I didn’t go into graphic design, ladies and gents! Staring at font after font and trying out each of them with every possible color, level of fade, and placement just about sent me to the loony bin.

Thanks to my friends at MRB Photography, I had some great images to work with, which made all the difference in the world. If I hadn’t had such a great base to start from, I probably would have lost my mind completely!

failed book cover designs

A few that almost made the cut.

After 24 failed attempts were filed away, I finally had something I was happy with.

Now that I have a cover, it finally seems real. I cannot wait to put this baby out in the world for you all to enjoy!

If you haven’t got started on this series yet, now is the time to get in on the fun and grab your copy of the first novel, “Broken Strings”. Just click on the “Books” tab in the nav bar above, or in the drop down menu if you are on a mobile device.

For those of you who have already begun this journey and have been dying to get some answers, mark your calendars! Only 7 more days!
